What You’ll Learn in Your GUE Drysuit Primer Course

In the GUE Drysuit Primer, you’ll learn how to use your drysuit safely and efficiently—from proper donning to achieving optimal trim and body position in the water. Together, we’ll train how buoyancy and trim behave differently when diving a drysuit. The goal is to prepare you safely and comfortably for more demanding dives.

Theory

During the course, we’ll first discuss a selection of important topics on land before putting them into practice in the water.

  1. Types of drysuits
  2. Undergarment & Isolation
  3. Equipment Configuration
  4. Maintenance and field repairs
  5. Cold water diving
  6. Trim, Buoyancy, Balance
  7. GUE EDGE: Pre-Dive-Check
  8. GUE-System
  9. Nitrox (Optional)

Practical Training

During this course day on site, we’ll focus on maximizing time in the water. Together, we’ll complete at least two dives. Each dive and every skill will be thoroughly prepared with dry runs on land beforehand.

  1. Drysuit Failure Management
  2. Ascent & descent with a drysuit
  3. Equipment Optimization
  4. Gas Analysis
  5. GUE EDGE "Pre-Dive-Check"
Training Approach

What Sets GUE Apart from Other Dive Training Programs

This teaching method has been refined over years of practical experience. Each step flows seamlessly into the next, using a variety of stimuli so that all types of learners can absorb new skills efficiently without ever getting bored.

Theory

Every exercise is explained in detail with real-world relevance and demonstrated clearly. Together, we break down complex skills into manageable, easy-to-remember components so you fully understand what matters and why.

Dry Runs

Before getting in the water, you’ll rehearse each skill several times on land with detailed, hands-on instruction. This gives you the chance to clarify questions, build muscle memory, and ensure there are no surprises underwater.

In-Water Practice

You only truly learn to dive by diving. That’s why we spend a lot of time in the water—at least four dives during the course. Every skill is demonstrated underwater, then you and your team will practice together under guidance.

Feedback

You’ll receive precise, constructive feedback at every step of the way - not just on what to improve, but how and why. Feedback is given during underwater exercises and after each dive, including personalized video reviews to help you improve your skills for the next time.
